Restaurant Website Checklist
Most restaurant websites are doing the wrong job. The job is: menu, location, reservations, and reviews — fast on mobile. Everything else is luxury. This checklist gets you to a working website in 30 minutes of decisions.
The four jobs (in order of priority)
Menu — full menu, current prices, photos of top sellers, allergen info.
Location + hours — address + map + phone + current hours (auto-update for holidays).
Reservations / order online — link to Resy/OpenTable/Tock/UberEats/DoorDash visible above-the-fold.
Reviews + social proof — Google review snippets, IG feed, press mentions.
Performance and mobile
Page load < 2s on mobile. Hungry people will not wait.
Menu visible without scrolling on mobile.
Tappable phone + reservation buttons.
Hi-res food photos optimized as WebP for fast load.
Local SEO
Restaurant + Menu schema (full structured menu).
Google Business Profile fully optimized + posts weekly.
100+ Google reviews target, 4.5+ average.
"Best [cuisine] in [neighborhood]" content for discovery.
Talkerstein recommendation
For most restaurants, the website is conversion-supporting. The lead source is Google Business Profile + Instagram + Resy/OpenTable. Spend on those first.
